The Designer: Alexander Wang The Venue: Pier 94 on the Westside Highway, which had been transformed into a fashion arena thanks to stadium seating, stadium lighting and a five-sided runway with multiple models walking at once. wholesale lace front wigs The Crowd: Really, who wasn't there?: Kanye West, Anna Wintour, Ryan McGinley, Anna Dello Russo, Suzy Menkes, Alicia Keys, Bryanboy, Erin Wasson, Julia Restoin Roitfeld, Hilary Alexander, Mickey Boardman, Kim Hastreiter, Franca Sozzani, Linda Fargo, Nina Garcia, Mary Alice Stephenson, Sally Singer, Stefano Tonchi and Grace Coddington all sat front and center. The Collection: The designer took outerwear to terrific new heights, with puffer/poncho hybrids, a quilted sleeve tuxedo coat, a mink collared aviator tailcoat, a pony hair biker/bomber jacket worn with padded flight pants, and a dove grey mohair car coat with shiny silver puffer pockets. Wang's shoes¡ªsexy ankle strap sandals with metallic mudflaps covering the heels and knee-high black leather spats¡ªwere also supremely clever (and chic), as was a black merino turtleneck dress with zip-off peplum and quilted sleeves. The Standout Piece(s): The black quilted bomber/poncho that opened the show, along with a series of technically ingenious merino needle punch dresses and coats that had been bonded onto coordinating satin, making ti look as though the garments were melting into very pretty puddles around the wearer's knees. And while there's been much made of Wang's new Soho flagship store and his deal with the just launched members-only designer shopping site, Moda Operandi (which allows consumers to pre-order looks just weeks after they're shown on the runway), two of the bags shown here¡ªthe Adriel mini clutch and the Zelmira coin purse¡ªwill be available exclusively on eBay this summer.
